A Par Above the Rest: ND Boys Golf
By: Sarah O’Brien ’19
After an tough season last year, Boys Varsity Golf is ready for a spectacular year with new players and new goals.
Trip Morris ‘19, previous CIF individual qualifier and captain said, “Last Year I went all the way, but this year it is our goal [as a team] to qualify for CIF and hopefully bring home a championship. We have the talent and ability to make it happen.”
The boys can be found at the Lakeside Country Club in Toluca Lake four times a week, where they practice their short game and drives for about an hour and then play a few holes to get a game mindset set.
Sonny Magee ‘18 is playing on the golf team for the first time at Notre Dame and so far loves the experience. “My whole life I have played football, which is high intensity and very aggressive so golf is very different for me, but it has taught me to be more focused and have a stable mindset.”
Jack Forbes, a sophomore has been enjoying his experience as well. “It has been so much fun and a great bonding experience with my teammates. Everyone is very nice and helpful.”
The boys have had impressive victories against Crespi and Alemany, but fell short to Harvard Westlake and Chaminade. The Mission League title is still very possible, but will be a challenge. The matches ahead are very important to the overall standing of the team.
