Euro Trip: ND Style!

Picture this: 17 summer days of leisure traveling and exploring the European countries of England, France, Switzerland, and Italy. During the summer of 2019, Notre Dame students have the opportunity to do just this. Mr. Jeremy Nelson, the Head of the the Social Studies Department, is directing a trip (available to current Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors) to these four countries. “This trip will change the way you see the world. To experience culture and see history first hand. It’s expanding horizons. I went with students two years ago [on a similar trip] and I too learned new things,” said Mr. Dave Savage. So far the chaperones include, Mr. Nelson (who is leading the trip), Mrs. Nelson, and Mr. Savage, who have all traveled to these countries.

The highlights of the trip include a tour of London, Paris, Central Swiss Alps, Florence, Rome, Vatican City, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri and more. Students will spend approximately 1-2 days in every location learning about the wonders and landmarks in each city. “The highlights of the trip definitely include seeing the Vatican in Rome and anywhere in France,” said Mr. Savage. “And Switzerland. Swiss food is little known but under appreciated.” This trip is intended to immerse students in the culture and history of each country.

The total price for these four countries is $4,999, with an option of paying $378 a month. This price includes airfare and transportation, hotels, regional-style, meals, sightseeing with tour guides, full time tour director, expert local guides, and more. “Students gain a lot from this trip, for instance I think students will gain confidence and perspective from this trip as well as enriched experience. I mean nothing compares to strolling down the Champs-Élysées with a crepe,” said Mr. Savage.

If a leisurely stroll down the streets in Italy with an espresso in your hand sounds appealing to you, then be sure to sign up! The deadline to sign up for this trip is April 20, 2018 so be sure to register soon! For any further questions please contact Mr. or Mrs. Nelson.
