Have you ever searched for a good movie to watch, but were unable to find one? Looking for a touching drama? If so, Gifted is the movie you are looking for, and it can be streamed on Hulu.
Directed by Marc Webb, director of The Amazing Spider-Man and 500 Days of Summer, this PG-13 film is sure to lure in every viewer into its heartbreakingly intricate plot.
The movie follows the life of a young girl named Mary (McKenna Grace) who happens to be incredibly gifted in mathematics. Her uncle and primary caretaker after her mother’s death, Frank Adler (Chris Evans), tries his best to offer Mary the normal life of a 7 year old, regardless of her enhanced abilities.
However, upon hearing of Mary’s strength, Frank’s mother and Mary’s grandmother returns and attempts to battle her own son in a custody war over Mary.
The story in itself is fairly predictable, yet the acting and writing cause you to forget the cliche storyline and, instead, to invest in Grace’s story.
Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger) and McKenna Grace (Independence Day: Resurgence) bring the movie to life. Their amusing dynamic adds humor to the plot and their heartfelt performances draw the audience into the story as if they are living it themselves.
With a 72% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this is a movie not to miss. The story will sit with you for days and you will want to watch it multiple times.
