Struggling to decide on fall activities with friends? Look no further! This list aims to inspire everyone to get out and enjoy fun experiences with friends during the fall season!
Students at ND are definitely like-minded when it comes to the fall activities they enjoy.
Alisha Covarrubias ‘27 said, “I like going camping, visiting pumpkin patches, baking sweet goods, and going to friends’ houses to play games and be cozy by the warm fire.”
Similarly, Amelia Farrel ‘28 said, “I like to go to pumpkin patches with my friends. Sometimes we paint pumpkins, but mostly we carve them.”
Not into pumpkin patches or baking? No worries. There are lots of sports happening in the fall.
Fall sports at ND include football, volleyball, tennis, water polo, cross country, and beach volleyball. Go to a game and cheer on the Knights!
If that is not enough to satisfy your sports habit, you can always gather with friends and family to watch NCAA football on Saturdays and NFL football on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
But while football has always been the US sport associated with fall, the Sports Business Journal reported that the WNBA ranks among the most watched games in 2024, particularly as they are currently in post-season play. The NWSL is also in full swing through November as is NCAA women’s volleyball. And we can’t forget that the MLB postseason is an October staple.
If you are all about holidays, two of the most popular holidays in the fall are Halloween and Thanksgiving. According to a recent Harris poll, Halloween is the favorite holiday of teens, second only to Christmas.
Dressing up in costumes, trick-or-treating, and going to parties are some of teens’ favorite things to do. It is also fun to create decorations for your house and yard.
Local fall festivals complete with rides can be found just by driving around. Often located at a pumpkin patch or a school, they’re a popular place for playing games, creating crafts, sampling traditional fall treats, and going on rides.
For the brave and adventurous, there is no shortage of Halloween themed events in Southern California.
Amelia Farrel ‘28 said one of her favorite Halloween activities is going to Fright Fest at Six Flags located in Santa Clarita. With haunted attractions, “Scare Zones,” and live entertainment, it is not surprising that Fright Fest is a teen favorite.
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood is another event that high school students love. With the infamous Terror Tram, and eight different haunted houses based on films like A Quiet Place, Insidious: The Further, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, fans can get their fill of Hollywood-style scares and entertainment.
Well, that wraps up the list! Hopefully you’ve gotten ideas of some fun things to do this fall.
